Underground Industry and Copper Thefts

A good 811 article

There have been a lot of newspaper articles released about 811. This one is especially good, I think, because it covers the whole spectrum of why 811 is important - from cutting off a neighbor’s service to public safety. It provides a good how/why for the lay person.

It also gives a statistics as to how many pipes / cables can be beneath a person’s yard.

811 Summit Meeting in Las Vegas

On Monday, I attended an 811 Summit in Las Vegas. It was a big hit.

It was put on by the CGA Nevada Regional Partner and hosted by Nevada Power. Southwest Gas bought dinner for everyone.

It was clear that 811 is still new to many people, but there there is alot of excitement about 811.

We announced the CGA Excavation Safety Conference and Expo will be at the Rio Hotel in Vegas for 2008. People were fired up and want to make sure lots of local people take advantage of this opportunity. We’re just about ready to launch the website, so stay tuned.
