The Dangers of Losing Power

During a polar vortex that descended upon a large swath of the United States, thousands of people were left without power in Wichita, Kansas on Sunday, December 18th. It was a dangerous day to be without power for any length of time as it was -10 °F, making it one of the coldest December days ever in Wichita. This specific power outage was caused by a truck taking out a utility pole, but as we know there are numerous ways in which our nation’s utility infrastructure can be damaged.
